CCN2

Over the past six months, the CCN2 Group has been diligently working to establish the foundation for operations by carefully defining its mission, strategic goals, and unique value proposition. As part of this effort, we’ve successfully established three key divisions: the Cybersecurity Division, led by Aaron Hairston, focused on safeguarding digital infrastructure and ensuring resilience against evolving threats; the Communications and Networks Division, led by Mike Petroskey, dedicated to advancing secure, high-performance connectivity across platforms; and the Nuclear Deterrence Division, soon to be led by Zach Cerovac, which supports strategic stability through cutting-edge technologies to help modernize the AN/USQ-225 weapon system. In parallel, our leadership team has drafted and is working on revisions to a comprehensive five-year growth plan, which aims to win new prime contracts, expand our support to Army customers, and identify mission-aligned opportunities that leverage our strengths in cybersecurity and communications. This roadmap outlines targeted opportunities that leverage our talent, technology, and partnerships to position the group for sustained relevance and impact. The leadership team has also established a clear structure, identified critical staffing needs, and is focused on developing its roadmap for 2026 and beyond. Following the 3Q Manager’s Meeting, the team is evaluating the necessary performance metrics and success criteria to ensure accountability and alignment with broader organizational objectives. Internal processes and communication channels have been built to foster collaboration and transparency. At the same time, stakeholder engagement efforts have helped secure buy-in and momentum. These foundational efforts have positioned the group for a strong and focused launch—and a trajectory of meaningful growth.

CCN2 Business Unit Recent Activities

NC3 PAAS Contract

The NC3 Team has been working diligently to support multiple fielding and testing events over the past few months. These events are critical in enhancing the warfighter’s operational capability and providing assured, reliable communications for senior leaders.

The team is no stranger to travel as these TDYs often occur at the last minute and can last for weeks at a time (often at less than desirable locations); a true mark of the flexibility Odyssey brings to the customer. Additionally, the team has begun conducting audits on multiple weapon system elements, which are critical to the baseline efforts of the overall weapon system. Lastly, one of our Senior Program Managers, Clayton Gardner, has celebrated eight years of service to the NC3 Integration Directorate, spanning three contracts (most recently with Odyssey). Clayton supports the Senior Leader Network Program Management Office and previously supported the NC3 Product Support & Integration Branch.

Communications and Networks Directorate Support

The Communications and Networks team in San Antonio conducted research and analysis on the benefits and drawbacks of the National Security Agency (NSA) Protocol Free Encryption Device (PFED) design. This analysis assessed the potential integration into the Yoshida Tactical Key Management (TKM)-based program and the Cryptographic Modernization 2 (CM2) / Quantum Resistance (QR) upgrade. Additionally, supported the government’s participation in a multi-service tactical exercise, enabling the integration and evaluation of mini-crypto capabilities in a real-world environment.

The HNC Odyssey team supported stakeholders from the KSV-270 Program Management Office, AFLCMC/HNCC’s Information Assurance Technical Application Center, and General Dynamics Mission Systems partnered to successfully perform the first field-level software update on the KSV-270 initial prototype, proving out a core requirement protecting data at rest.

logosFinally, an electronic warfare system that Odyssey supports made significant news in the Breaking Defense and Air Force Times publications. The articles highlighted several priorities from recent budget documents, including continued investment in electronic warfare and missile defense systems. Below is a passage from the Air Force Times outlining how the Space Force plans to advance the Bounty Hunter program and related initiatives.

One electronic warfare system the Space Force will continue developing is Bounty Hunter, which monitors and detects enemy electro-magnetic interference across different domains.

Space Force funding will also support missile warning and tracking systems, as well as layered missile-intercepting initiatives for Golden Dome, President Trump’s homeland missile defense system, according to budget documents.

Likewise, the Space Force seeks to grow its force by 600 troops and emphasize a focus on boosting satellite communications, as well as counterspace systems, according to budget documents. Counterspace systems are designed to prevent enemy satellite communications in the service’s area of responsibility.

Cybersecurity Division

ACC ShieldThis division continues to provide critical support across Air Combat Command Directorate of Cyberspace and Information Dominance (ACC A6), Cybersecurity Information Assurance Support (CIAS), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and System Engineering, Logistics, and Cybersecurity (SELOCY), with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity and mission enablement. The Odyssey team remains engaged in advancing cybersecurity initiatives that safeguard Air Force networks, ensuring operational resilience and compliance with evolving requirements. Within ACC A6, the team is aligned with command priorities to deliver solutions that strengthen readiness and mission execution by tracing and scheduling training courses. Our partnership with AFRL is driving innovation, as we assist in advancing research and development efforts that enhance secure technologies for the future force. At the same time, we are providing support on SELOCY to MyNavy HR, ensuring personnel and operational needs are met and that the Navy workforce is well-positioned to deliver on mission objectives. Collectively, these efforts highlight Odyssey’s role in integrating cybersecurity expertise, operational support, and innovative research to meet the complex demands of our Air Force and Navy customers.

Advancing Integration: Building Our Data Strategy from the Ground Up

As part of Odyssey’s strategic objective to create an integrated corporate structure, Nick Davis has been working within the Technical Center to help lay the foundation for our emerging Operational Intelligence Fabric, a lightweight approach to weaving together the systems, data, and insights that power our work.

Nick’s work focuses on analyzing our current systems, identifying key data types and sources, and mapping data fields to align information across platforms. This effort is about more than just data; it’s about how we integrate our systems, simplify the flow of information, connect insights across functions, and ultimately enhance how Odyssey operates.

A significant component of this strategy involves exploring the design of a Data Lake, which will serve as the foundation for enabling advanced capabilities such as AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and large language models (LLMs). These efforts will help move Odyssey toward a more intelligent, proactive, and scalable approach to operations and insight. We’re at the beginning of this journey, but it’s a critical one. Check out this demo of the data mapping work that’s helping to bring this vision to life.

Strategic Engagement

Strategic Engagement Team continues towards Full Operational Capability!

The Strategic Engagement (SE) team reached its full strength in May with the addition of Mr. Justin Bright as Program Coordinator. Based in the Lincoln office, Justin is a proud husband and father of two boys. He and his family share a love of adventure and traveling, and Justin says that exploring the world with them is one of his greatest joys.

Professionally, Justin spent 24 years in the Air Force, where he developed a passion for leading people and helping them reach their full potential. He refined this passion as a First Sergeant, advising senior leaders and assisting teams to stay connected and prepared for any challenge. Following his military career, Justin continued to grow as an HR Director, organizational consultant, and workshop facilitator, helping teams strengthen communication, prevent burnout, and build healthier cultures. Justin locked in his position on the team when he told us, “At the heart of it all, I’m just passionate about personal growth, connection, and helping people discover their best at work and in life.” We couldn’t be more excited to have him on board. If you see Justin, make sure to give him a big smile and a crisp high five.

While we are proud to be connecting the dots by working with cross-functional teams across the company, we are also focused on planning and developing SE as a company-wide function. Reaching full operational capability means more than being fully staffed—it means maturing our processes, aligning with Operations and Growth, and building the tools and approaches that will allow Odyssey to consistently communicate its value, strengthen its reputation, and deepen relationships with both customers and partners. This deliberate focus ensures SE is not just contributing to projects today but also laying the groundwork for long-term impact and sustained success across the company.

Driving Growth and Strategic Opportunities

This past quarter, SE jumped in to supplement the Growth Team during a time when multiple opportunities were moving forward in parallel, each with significant potential for Odyssey. In addition to providing frequent behind-the-scenes support, SE has undertaken initial scoring and evidence mapping to help estimate the probability of win and inform decisions on priming and strategic teaming. This work also shapes strategic conversations with potential partners, helping Odyssey secure teammates when we prime and strengthening our case to be brought on board when we do not. The team is enjoying the chance to support growth efforts and to play a small but meaningful part in solidifying Odyssey’s future revenue. SE and Growth teams also collaborated with Operations experts on multiple proposal efforts, sharpening our ability to capture new business, expand into new markets, and diversify our operations.

Strategic Hiring

SE members activated their networks to help bring talented leaders into the company. Looking ahead, SE will meet with Talent Acquisition and collaborate with people across the company to develop and implement Strategic Hiring concepts. These efforts will help bring in the right people who have the necessary skills but also embody our core values and culture.

Building Connections and Extending Our Reach

Over the next six months, SE work will accelerate a project to deepen the company’s understanding of our customer base and industry partnerships, improving collaboration across the company. Success in this area will strengthen one of Odyssey’s most powerful competitive advantages: serving as the “connective tissue” between complementary programs within the DoD, helping our customers become more effective and efficient.

Meanwhile, the Employee Ambassador concept continues to develop, with a focus on building relationships that extend our brand and reach. While the details are still being refined, the vision is clear: identifying motivated individuals across the company to help tell Odyssey’s story and drive growth by fostering personal connections. If you’re interested in exploring new opportunities, reach out to:

Erin (erindonlanschubmehl@odysseyconsult.com)
Bob (robertjohnson@odysseyconsult.com)
Justin (justinbright@odysseyconsult.com)
Heather (heatherlavigne@odysseyconsult.com)

We’ll find a way to team with you to make our nation, our customers, our company, and each other stronger than ever.

Looking Ahead

The Strategic Engagement team is still young but steadily maturing into a core part of Odyssey’s success. By supporting growth efforts, strengthening risk management, enabling strategic hiring, and deepening connections across the company and with our partners, SE is laying the foundation for something bigger than ourselves. Together, we are building a stronger Odyssey—one that takes care of its people, earns the trust of our customers, and serves the nation with excellence. With every step, we are proving that when we connect, collaborate, and lead with purpose, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
