Behind the Scenes
Aaron Hairston
C5ISR Group Program Manager and Site Lead, Langley AFB Operations
The Journey highlights an Odyssey employee each issue, celebrating their free-time pursuit of an uplifting endeavor unrelated to Odyssey’s core business.
Aaron Hairston, a Program Manager within Odyssey’s C5ISR Group and Site Lead for our Langley AFB, VA operations, has for the past three years served as the head coach of the Colonial Revolution Youth Mountain Bike Team. The Revolution is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2014, for co-ed athletes aging from 9-18 years of age living primarily on the Virginia Peninsula and surrounding localities, including the counties of Charles City, James City, New Kent, and York, and the independent cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg. The Colonial Revolution is a member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), an organization that develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.
The Colonial Revolution, with 84 student-athletes, exists to provide student-athletes of all riding levels the guidance to ride safely in an inclusive, supportive environment, to develop an appreciation of our outdoor spaces, to achieve personal and competitive goals, and to develop the skills to maintain a healthy lifelong fitness all while building strong bodies, strong minds, and strong character.
Like most youth sports leagues, the Revolution draws its coaches from the parent pool and the local community, and is a 100% volunteer corps. Most are not expert-level cyclists or racers, but serve to support the team and provide a positive role model to the team’s athletes.
As a 25-year retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 of the US Army, Aaron has served his community in some form or fashion since his active-duty retirement in 2013, and we salute Aaron for his efforts. In recognition of his service to the Colonial Revolution, Odyssey is proud to make a donation of $2,500 to this fine organization.
Job well done, Aaron!
