Before Odyssey, please tell us about a previous job you have held that stands out as unusual or presented you with a unique and / or interesting opportunity:
I suppose my most unusual job is my first one! As a teenager I worked on an assembly line manufacturing dog collars (we weren’t allowed to talk…) and then while in college worked my way up to an internship in the product development department. Trends analysis was an interesting aspect of the job in order to help design new products as well as discontinue others. That job is also likely where I fell in love with dogs as pets were always welcome in the office and were frequently a part of our meetings.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Loyal, Motivated, Methodical
Do you have a favorite quote?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite, but I do like this one:
“Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”
―John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
Tell us about your family, including pets:
I’ve been happily married to my husband, Austin, for the last three years. He inherited my two cats, and we have since opened our home to two giant 100lb+ Colorado Mountain Dogs. My parents, sisters, and their families remain on the east coast, but we enjoy using FaceTime to keep up with my nieces and nephew and visiting to ring in the New Year.
Any nicknames?
None anymore. My sisters used to call be J-Byrd… I do not remember why!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of my free time being active, either doing pilates or rock climbing (outside when it is nice). I also love to travel when time permits and aim to go to at least one new state or country a year.
Where would you want to go on your dream vacation?
That’s a great question and that list is VERY long. I tend to gravitate towards beaches or anywhere with good food! My husband and I also had to cancel our honeymoon to Italy during Covid, so that is still on my list. We checked off Puerto Rico this year already!
Anything else you would like to share about yourself?
My absolute favorite TV show is Friends. If you catch me outside of work, I’m usually making some kind of reference! I’m also a diehard fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes as my alma mater. Go Bucks!
The Odyssey Company Store is Open for Business!
There are lots of great items to choose from, but let us know if there’s something you’d like to see on the site!
